Lace Monitor

Lace Monitors are large, very strong lizards with long necks and long muscular tails.

They have well developed legs with 5 toes with large claws.

Lace Monitors can grow to 2.1 metres long.

These lizards live in forested areas. They are arboreal but forage on the ground. They will climb trees when disturbed.

I encountered a 2 metre Lace Monitor on the eastern slopes of Mt Jenolan - the biggest I have seen anywhere.
