Tesselate Hill

Tesselate Hill is just north of Mt Irvine. Tesselate Hill was previously known as 'The Pavements' because of a series of rock platforms, just to the north, covered with tessellations.

It isn't unusual to see sedimentary rocks with tessellation patterns like these. It is very unusual to see such a large area.

After rain, water collects in the hollows, reservoirs that might support the plants and animals until the next fall.

Some of the hollows have Grinding Grooves and Pots and there is at least one engraving, evidence of Aboriginal occupation in the area.
