Shamash Point

Comments:

Shamash Point is a large rock shelf at the south-western corner of Mt Barrallier.

There are excellent views across Shamash Deep to the Boyd Range, up Wheengee-Whungee Creek to Moxley Rock as well as Heliolater Point.

Thick heath makes any approach to Shamash Point extremely difficult but it can be done. The views are worth the effort.

Dunphy used a 'Sun God' theme when naming some places on Mt Barrallier: 

• Shamash was the Sumerian Sun God
• Heliolater is a sun worshipper 
• Temple of the Shining Orb
