Newnes State Forest is an area of about 13,400 hectares set aside for forestry. There are pine pantations and native forest reserves.
Unlike National parks, mining is permitted under State Forests. Underground mining is not new to the Newnes State Forest and is constantly being expended.
Aside from the obvious timber and coal resources, Newnes State Forest hides a wealth of natural beauty - pagodas, canyons, wild flowers, native animals and many many views.
Pagodas are rock formation unique to the area, very beautiful and extremely delicate.
