The Inglis Lookout is an old lookout, hard to get to and so very rarely visited.
The Lookout was named after Jimmy Inglis who guided visitors in the area in the 1920s.
Inglis held 100 acres of land on Mt Kanangra and built a clay brick guest house to accomodate the visitors. The guest house does not appear to have been completed.
The Lookout can be reached by working through the heath from the Kanangra Road for about 300 metres or skirting around the rimrock past Grand Gorge Lookout and Kowmung Lookout.
There are excellent views of Maxwell Top, Arabanoo Creek, Isolated Rock, Mt Colboyd, Mt Bulgin, Pindari Top and across to the Kowmung and Mt Colong.
It is certainly worth the effort to see this rugged landscape from a different aspect.
The Inglis Lookout is marked on Dunphy's Gangerang and Kowmung maps.
