Haystack Ridge

Haystack Ridge runs north-east from Bald Hills to the junction of Bowen and Mills Creek, almost 5 kilometres away.

There are excellent views at various places along the ridge offering views over Bowen Creek towards Wynnes Rocks and Mt Wilson, over Mill Creek to Mt Bell, Mt Tomah and Berambing.

A firetrail runs along for the ridge for about 2.5 kilometres. The next 2 highpoints on the ridge (including Mt Haystack) and areas to the east are thickly forested. Lawyer Vine is a problem in these areas. The easiest route is to sidle around to the west along the rim rock that occurs around 880 metres elevation.

The highlight of any walk along Haystack Ridge is the narrow Haystack Neck, the erosion residual of the saddle between Mt Haystack & the next hill.
