The Self-Acting Incline & Steel Rope Haulage Tramway at Airly ran from the end of the Southern Tramway to Capertee.
It was a double track tramway with skips hauled on a steel rope haulage system.
The tramway ran in a westerly direction down the hill from the Airly Gap ridge & up a steep hill & through a tunnel. From the tunnel the tramway headed down to the valley and on to the railway at Capertee.
The section from the Airly Gap ridge to the tunnel runs in a perfectly straight line. Skips can still be seen in 2 places, as can sleepers & at least 1 track pin.
